A New Baby Quilt, A Bad Hair Cut, and Pretty Flowers

Two weeks or so ago I started making a rag quilt for the baby girl on the way.    Back when we were packing up our house in Grandfield I had cut a bunch of squares from Sam and Asa's old jeans in hopes of some day making one of these.  I love the way this quilt turned out.  I am suppose to wash it 2 more times to get the edges to fray completely.  I also picked up the sweet little baby doll bassinet at a yard sale this morning for Kylie Joy! ... sweetness
Why, Oh Why, do little girls do it?  Last summer, right before Jordan and Amber's wedding Hannah cut some of her hair off.  Well, I guess it was Kylie Joy's turn this year.  Makes me so sad, I love her grownup/woman looking hair.  We have our school scissors out all the time and she has never cut anything that was not suppose to be cut.  However, a few days ago I trimmed her bangs... mistake... I usually wait until she is asleep to cut them... but this time she was in my lap and I had the scissors so I just trimmed them up real quick.  Wish I had waited for her to be asleep because I think that is what gave her the idea.  Anyhow, it is not totally terrible looking, her bangs on the left side are just a little thinned out. The funny thing about it is she came to me crying and spitting, she had hair in her mouth.  I picked her up and tried to get it out and that is when I realized what she had done.  I scolded her pretty good and, of course,  she cried even harder.  I said, "Kylie Joy your hair is not pretty anymore."  I took her up and put her in the bath.  As the water was filling up she turned over on her tummy and put her hands under her little chin, "I'm not cute anymore." she said sadly.  Hysterical!   :)

A few weeks ago I bought this country looking afghan at a yard sale for one dollar.

...more pretty flowers growing in the wild around here! The girls and I have been having so much fun this spring with all the varieties of flowers to pick!
