This thankful month is already flying by! We took a super quick trip down to my home state of Texas this past weekend.  I am always thankful for time spent with my family!  Gaining that extra hour of sleep Sunday was amazing as well!  Felicity is waking up super early now though, I wonder how long it will last?!?!
Picture
Anyhow, I thought I'd pop on here real fast and share the second week of Thankful verses for the kiddos to write out.

I hope you are having a Blessed November!!  Remember to be Thankful, there's no Happier person than a Thankful person! ~Kiy

So a few weeks ago I found this book at our local thrift shop.  I sat it aside and forgot about it somehow in the mix of the hustle and bustle of the holidays.  Well, today I had six hours of sitting in the car, so I brought this little 'find' with me.   With no kids in the car, which is a rare experience for us, I read most of it aloud to Sam as he was cruising along.  We laughed and agreed with so much of what the author writes.  Maybe Sam can now see I am not the only crazy homeschool mom in existence.  It was good to see my feelings and reactions are so common with other hsm's.  I am a very strong KJV girl!  That is the only thing I would change about this book, I do highly recommend "LIES Homeschooling MOMS Believe"  by Todd Wilson.  You will not waste your time reading it!  ...and if you're reading this and you are a homeschool mom, keep your head up, sometimes it's hard, but like this book says,
" No one homeschools because it is easy.  Most do it because they think it is the best.  That should comfort you, because the best things are almost always the hardest things.  Think about it.  The things that are easiest are usually not very good for you, but those things that take blood, sweat and tears are worth everything.  So take heart.  Homeschooling must be really, really good because it's really, really hard."  ~Todd Wilson

Picture
Asa had so much fun singing in the choir at church camp back in the summer, he decided to find a choir to sing in.  We enrolled him in the Central Oklahoma Homeschool Choir in August and these kids have practiced their Christmas songs ever since!  They did a wonderful performance, I was truly impressed with the choir and the instructors!  So happy Asa has the opportunity to be a part of this choir!
Picture
He had lots of friends and family come out to hear them sing!  I wish I had gotten of photo of everyone.  Here are some that we got before they snuck off!!  Thanks all of you for coming out and supporting my boy!!

The first photo was of the 11, 12 and 13 year olds.  On the last song of the concert, all ages of the COHC came out and sang.  It was spectacular!  Way to go COHC!!!

Teaching our children things of the Bible is a great responsibility.  I have put together 1 month of daily (weekdays only) devotions for kids, on the subject of Faithfulness.  These lessons teach what faith is, and also about several faithful followers found in God's Holy Word (the KJV)!  Feel free to use these short devotions in your home, church classes or however you may choose.  I am putting together another set of devotions on "Giving".  They will be posted in the next few weeks!  God Bless and Happy Teaching!!

We did not go anywhere this week for the letter 'E'.  It came to us!!  the ECLIPSE!!!
Picture
We got to see the ECLIPSE several different ways.  First we made the cereal box method, you look at the reflection inside on the bottom of the box, then we made the shoe box method with a hole in the middle and it reflected on the ground or as seen above on Asa's hand.  Both were fun!  Then a kind neighbor saw us outside while passing our house, she hurried home and got their welders helmet and we got to view it from that as well.  It was a fun experience for us all!  What a great week for the letter 'E' !!!
Picture
My little kindergartner is having a great time learning her letters!  It's hard to believe we already have 5 weeks of school behind us!!  HomeSchool is so Cool!!
Picture
Check back with us in a week or so to see where the letter 'F' takes us!!!

bubbles... bubbles ...and BIG bubbles...

Okay, so I just have to share this with you today!!  A week or so ago I was thumbing through Pinterest and saw the coolest thing for the kids to try!  Sure enough it works and is soooo much FUN!!  So here it is...
Picture
Yes!!!  Hula Hoop Bubbles!! BIG, BIG bubbles!!
Picture
These really were big bubbles!  So many giggles and so much excitement!!
Picture
We already had the kiddie pool, it is what we had next to our swimming pool to clean our feet off before getting in.  We went to the dollar tree and got a hula hoop and 5 jugs of bubbles.  After pouring the bubbles into the pool we decided we needed more so I took two bottles inside and filled with water and a good long squeeze of dawn.
Picture
At first the bubbles were breaking from the hoop right away. Then the kids realized if they got their hands totally covered in bubbles, got a hold of the hula hoop, lift it up and try to not move the position of their hands at all, the bubbles would grow quiet large with them blowing into it just like blowing bubbles from a wand.
Picture
Picture
Asa then realized, with his hands saturated in bubbles, he could form a ring with his fingers and blow bubbles!
Picture
These were big bubbles as well!
Picture
He was impressed that the bubbles were so strong that he could separate them into two bubbles then join it back together as one.
Picture
My little Muffin couldn't figure out how to get a bubble from her finger, but she had a lot of fun playing with the suds!  We had so much fun with this, just thought I'd share it with you all!    We can't wait to get our school work done today so we can play with the bubbles again!!  Hope you are having a Blessed Week!

Back to School

Picture
We started back to school this week!  Which means we have a kindergartner in our school room this year!  How can it be that my baby is starting school?!?
Picture
I spent all last week getting all their work together for the first several months!  It's getting exciting around here, I'm not sure why it's so exciting to me, but maybe it's because once school starts, fall follows! I am so ready for fall!!
Picture
We are trying to make our homeschool more fun this year, and learning at the same time.  This year we have decided to try and come up with an outing that starts with the letter of the week.  For instance 'P' for Park and 'L' for Library.  I had a hard time finding something for 'A' at first, but with help from family and friends we ended up at Andy Alligator's fun park and Atwood's, both in Norman.  We had a fun time and Lis found some A's there!   Can't wait to see how the year goes!
Picture
The girls had so much fun bowling on the tiny bowling alley! (Asa and Sam snuck upstairs for some Laser Tag)
Picture
Our bunny was out of food and Sam needed some new work pants, therefore, Atwood's was a great 'A' place to visit!  Well, 1 down and 25 more letters to go, can't wait to see where the alphabet takes us!!!  Hope you all have a happy weekend!

Miss Felicity and Callie

Picture
This messy haired, dirty faced lady sure brightens my day, every day!   Felicity learned to write her name a few months ago.  While the others are doing school work she sits and practices perfecting her name.  At Christmastime she was given a gift card to the toy store and picked out Miss Callie, her baby doll.  Well, Miss Callie finally is old enough to start school with Felicity!  Sam and I told Felicity, if she could start going potty every night right before she goes to bed and did not wet the bed for a month, we would take her to pick a prize.  It worked!  So now her doll has a school desk and they can both practice writing their names! :)

Hey!  Before I go just want to wish you all a very happy weekend!  We're having a yard sale tomorrow, sure hope this crazy wind is out of here by then!!  God Bless!

~It's been awhile!

I decided a few weeks ago to  drop out of my photo challenge.  (sad face here)  But really, it's for the best.  I have been so busy with everything else, the photos I was putting up were terrible.  I have still been taking photos, just not on topic.  Anyhow, here is what's been going on in our lives...
Picture
Sam and I celebrated our 13th Wedding Anniversary!  We ordered take-out from a nearby Italian Restaurant and had a date on the back porch.  It was nice and cozy, I love this man, and I love the fact that we can have a great time without going out, getting a sitter and all of that stuff (the kids had take out too, rented a movie and were just super good as they usually are).
Picture
We have enjoyed the fall weather. It took it awhile to get here, but it has been so pretty out, so we have enjoyed some parks as well!
Picture
With the cooler weather, we have started baking again!! We love sweets, I know, I know, but we LoVe them!
Picture
It is the middle of November and our morning glories are so full and just gorgeous!
Picture
We celebrated with our cousins for their birthdays a few weeks ago!
Picture
Been hard at work!  School is getting more fun now that the kids are able to do more on their own, well, the older ones can. Asa gave an oral book report and was required to dress as one of the characters in the book.  This was a lot of fun for us to watch and hear!
Picture
This was part of Asa's audience as he gave his report! We have fun with our school!
Picture
A nice time for a walk on the trails!
Picture
These guys, melting my heart day after day! xoxoxo
Picture
We love going to the library!  Brought home around 20 books!  Lots of reading around here!
Picture
I've also been busy in my Etsy shop!  If you haven't taken a look around you ought to!  We are looking forward to the holidays!! Hope you are having a super awesomely blessed Fall!  We sure are!!   God is good all the time, All the time God is good!
